The 2018 BC Live Awards consist of the following 7 categories:
Community Engagement Project of the Year Award
This project award is for construction teams that deserve recognition for their outstanding community engagement during the delivery of a project. This category celebrates the best project-based outreach programmes in UK Construction/Housing and entries should reflect that.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing Initiative of the Year Award
This project award is for construction teams who have shown fantastic commitment to health and safety on a particular project, achieving exemplary standards. This category celebrates the best of project-based Health & Safety and Wellbeing in UK construction, and the entries should reflect that.
Open to all UK projects that achieved practical completion or equivalent and have demonstrated outstanding performance in Health and Safety during the calendar year 2018.
Judges will look for evidence of innovation in Health & Safety and Wellbeing, specific project-based initiatives designed to embed a positive culture, the site-based communication of best practice, the results/ improvements this has led to on the project and how learnings can be transferred to future schemes.
To be eligible, entries must provide a breakdown of the project’s entire Health and Safety record, not just for 2018.
Best Innovation or use of Technology Award
This category is open to any company that has created an innovative product, process or service to improve construction delivery in the calendar year 2018.
This could be a new trailblazing product that exemplifies innovative design and function or a ground-breaking process that changed how a project was delivered. The innovation could be site or office based use or innovative technology and entrants should be clear whether the innovation lies in performance, cost, Health & Safety, reliability or other factors and provide supporting evidence.
Entries should focus on at least one example of specific innovation.
Rising Star (Apprentice/Trainee) Award
This is for rising stars who have been in the construction industry for 10 years or less but have shown innovative thinking, astute business acumen and made a significant contribution to a project or otherwise demonstrated their potential to rise to the top.
They will be judged on all round ability – (not only academic) and their work, study and training related achievements and also their enthusiasm for construction as an industry and their ambition.
Entrants should be able to demonstrate how, specifically, they have made a difference to their projects or business
Life Time Achievement Award
The Life Time Achievement Award is not open to entries and it will be given to one of the winners named on the day for their work in one, or more than one of the following areas:
- Integrated supply chain and collaborative working between client and contractor
- Adoption of modern methods of construction such as use of offsite manufacturing
- Innovative use of technology and data, such as BIM and digital construction
- Development of high-quality apprenticeships and skills for the future
BC Live League Table Overall Winner Award
On the day we will also be awarding the coveted BC Live League Table Overall Winner to the best performing Main Contractor of 2018 – the company that has secured the highest value of contract awards throughout the year.
This is sponsored by our BC Live League Table, the only real time league showing which UK Contractors are winning work across every sector.
